One doesn't have to travel all the way to India to see the pollution. This picture was taken overlooking Lake Geneva, Switzerland, on a winter day when the air pollution becomes visible as a brown cloud.

As mentioned before, certain impressions from a trip to India in 2004 lead to the first inspiration for this blog. This picture illustrates one of them.

The waste basket was open at the bottom and it said: "Keep Puttaparthi clean."

On a travel to India in 2004, I could see very clearly what the lack of waste management and non-degradable waste (such as plastics) can do to the environment. On the same trip, I also saw the pollution of rivers and the air. This was when the idea for this web site was born.

In the West, we have similar problems, but they are less obvious. Ever since Al Gore's "An inconvenient truth", we can no longer hide in ignorance. This blog reflects what concerns me these days about the environment and nature.
